45th Wedding Anniversary Gift Ideas

Sapphires were once considered to be pieces of the sky that fell to earth. The 45th wedding anniversary is marked as the "Sapphire Anniversary". Obviously the first gift that would be appropriate would be a sapphire in any form of jewelry. They would be available at any Jewelry store and of course you can pay anywhere from $199 to $12,000 depending on the quality of the jewelry. Any jewelry store such as Zales or major store such as Wal-Mart can accommodate you.

Getting prepared to celebrate my 35th anniversary, I know what some of the things we "older" folks treasure and one is time alone. It is hard to find time away from the pressures of life and family problems. Another gift that would certainly be appropriate would be an evening or weekend at a hotel. This would not be as expensive as you would think running around $100 per night in a reasonably nice hotel. You can also get rooms with Hot tubs for about $200 per night. You might get clever and see if you could find a hotel with a "Blue Room".

Another method I used with my wife on our 25th anniversary was to go to a hotel 25 miles away; and, I gave her several gifts all costing $25 dollars or a multiple of $25. Then of course I got presents attenuated to the year.

Time with friends is good for any anniversary. Usually most couples have some friends that they have trouble getting with and to throw a party inviting these friends would be a great idea. In the same vein it is difficult to get with family so, having a party where family is invited for a day of celebration would be a good idea. My suggestion is to have an affair that lasts awhile so that the couple has a lot of time to spend with all their friends and family.

When my folks got older we had a party for them which was called "This is Your Life" patterned on the game show. We found people from their past such as teachers and college chums as well as neighbors from old neighborhoods and old co-workers from past jobs. I believe of all the things we ever did this was their favorite.
