When it comes to the benefits I've encountered since making my diet 80% raw, the list is infinite, but one thing that stands out like a sore thumb, is the fact that my pre-menopause has become virtually non-existent! No kidding! I have tried to think of the last time that I really had a "hot flash" or night sweats, or irregular cycles, or sleep difficulties, and I'm happy to announce that none of that exists for me! Upon turning 40 I recall having more of those issues, but, now I can't recall the last time those things occured for me, and I'm 46! It should be getting worse right? Well, not when your eating this way. The only thing I notice more of, is a shorter luteal phase. I've had shortened luteal phases for many years already, but now they range anywhere in between 4-7 days. I had longer luteal phases in my early 40's. How's that for just one fabulous reason to begin this lifestyle? There are more, many more, but this one is huge.

So how is it that this food can do this for us? Something called phytoestrogens . These estrogens occur naturally in plant sources, and if your going to be eating raw, lots of plant food is probably going to be a big part of your diet, a good thing if you're looking to ward off the effects of menopause. Phytoestrogens mimic our own natural estrogen, enabling us to enjoy all the effects of what estrogen does for us, even with the natural decline we experience as we age. Knowing what my experience has been by eating this way, it would be very hard for me to turn to HRT therapy to help improve the effects of my pre-menopause. Its very reassuring to know that I get such fabulous results ridding myself of pre-menopause just by eating well. Why would I choose to use pharmaceuticals when all I need to do is make the right food choices? It seems so easy, I can't imagine living any other way!
