You hear it all over conservative talk radio: John McCain is too liberal, or, John McCain might as well run as a democrat, or, John McCain has no friends on the far right. If you're one of the people that agrees with those statements, then you must also think America is in a world of trouble come November, whether you are a Democrat or a Republican. Ah, the great unknown.

The fact of the matter is, John McCain may be the best remaining candidate for the Presidency of the United States, but that wasn't the case before January 30. The best all-around candidate, the person who could have made the most people happy (heaven knows you'll never satisfy everyone) was the candidate that the majority of the American people were going to choose in the first place.

There are several reasons for the freefall of Rudy Giuliani, but who could have ever fathomed that he would go from leading in just about every poll for an entire year, to not even being able to make it to Super Tuesday. Instead of going with their first instinct, Floridians (who will represent all of America in this column, since their opinion was reflected in National polls anyway), decided to run with the crowd. Floridians decided to vote for a winner, or in some cases, the person who could defeat the candidate they liked the least, instead of the candidate they thought was the best.

There are two major things to consider here: Why Mayor Giuliani fell in the polls and why the other candidates make you feel like America might be settling for the best candidate available, instead of the best candidate.
