Parents can easily provide their children quick and healthy after school snacks. In age of junk food for quick snacks after school, it's good that healthy foods exist, too, for children. Here's five quick after school snacks that are healthy, too, for children. Of course, it's important to be aware of your kids' allergies to any of the following foods.

Peanut Butter Sandwich with a Glass of Milk

When I was a kid, I saw an animated commercial that aired during after school hours which is still embedded in my consciousness. It gave advice for getting my energy up and stopping my stomach from grumbling, proclaiming that a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of milk was not only quick to prepare, but also healthy and nutritious. According to my jar of Jif peanut butter, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter contain a good source of Dietary Fiber, Iron, Vitamin E, Riboflavin, and Niacin. A glass of milk contains a good source of Calcium, Protein, Vitamin D, Phosphorus, and much more according to MilkDelivers.org.

Carrot and/or Celery Sticks

It's quick to prepare carrot and/or celery sticks as after school snacks for children, which are quite tasty indeed! Carrots are rich in Vitamin A while celery contains such healthy nutritional aspects like Vitamin A, Calcium, and Vitamin C, according to NutritionData.com.

Non-Diacetyl Microwave Popcorn

Popcorn is another healthy and quick after school snack, especially if it's the microwave kind. Parents who are concerned about their children eating too much fat can choose the no- or light-butter kinds. Another concern is about the butter flavoring additive called Diacetyl because it's reportedly injured food manufacturing employees who've had a lot of exposure to it. Well, companies like Pop Weaver no longer use this additive in their popcorn. Popcorn provides a good source of fiber and generally is low in fats upon popping. It's also filling despite the fact that it doesn't weigh much.
