Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden

The Westminster Kennel Club is holding the 132nd Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden, in New York City on Monday, February 11 and Tuesday, February 12. The dog show is beloved by lovers of canines, who enjoy seeing the best of breeds and learning more about the different types of dogs.

The Westminster Dog Show is televised on the USA Network and CNBC Network. The dog show is the most viewed program that USA airs. On Monday, The Group and Best in Show competition will be televised live on the USA Network from 8:00 to 9:00 pm and will continue on CNBC from 9:00 to 11:00 pm. On Tuesday the competition will be televised live on USA Network form 8:00 to 11:00 pm.

The competition features breed recognized by the American Kennel Club, or AKC. Four new breeds will be competing in the show this year. The breeds, which are eligible for the first time this year, are the Plott in the Hound Group; the Tibetan Mastiff in the Working Group, The Swedish Vallhund in the Herding Group and the Beuceron in the Herding Group.

169 Breeds and Varieties will be judged, in seven different groups, during the two day show. The Hound, Terrier, Non-Sporting and Herding breeds will be judged during the day on Monday. Groups will be judged and televised on Monday evening. The Sporting, Working and Toy breeds will be judged on Tuesday. The Groups will be judged and televised on Tuesday evening. The Best in Show sill be judged and televised on Tuesday evening.

The Westminster website will show video streams of the competition of each breed and variety. The website video stream will be available within two hours of the competition. Visit the website during the day to see how your favorite breed in doing in the competition.

Great article. I love dogs and always enjoy watching the dog shows on television. I personally have a Basenji, and think he is the best dog in the world.
