About a year ago when I moved back to my hometown of Simi Valley, the one thing that I knew I would miss was frozen yogurt.
Then, this past spring, the most wonderful thing happened. Golden Spoon opened next to the new drive-thru Starbucks on the west end of Simi Valley. I was so excited to discover that there is a frozen yogurt shop within walking distance of my house, and was eager to try it.

As soon as I did, I was hooked.

Golden Spoon frozen yogurt has only 17 calories an ounce, and is 100% fat free! With four different sizes, the mini is usually just right to satisfy my craving, and it has only 60 calories.

I truly am addicted. I go about 4 times a week, sometimes more, and have tried almost everything. My husband and I are what customer loyalty programs are all about. We fill up about a stamp card per week, and thus we enjoy one free a week, furthering helping to fund our addiction, but who could blame us- the stuff is heavenly!

The flavor selection is wonderful. There are usually 10-12 flavor choices available at a time. Standards of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and peanut butter are always available, but they also have other creative flavors available on a monthly rotating schedule. So far, my favorite has been root beer float flavored yogurt, but it hasn’t been in stores this month. My favorite this month was Chocolate Malt, which tastes just like a Carnation malt cup. Raspberry is my sister’s favorite, while my father loves heath bar, and my best friend is a big fan of NY Cheesecake. As you can see, everyone I know is now hooked.

To keep the calorie count down, go for the healthier toppings
, such as fresh strawberries, granola, or nuts. Of course, sometimes, one cannot help but splurge by choosing from one of their creative toppings such as caramel cups, after dinner mints, mini M&Ms, chocolate chip cookie dough bits, brownie bites, or dinosaur sprinkles. Then of course there are the traditional favorites like gummi bears, chocolate chips, oreo cookie crumbs, or snow caps.

IS GOLDEN SPOON YOGURT A FRANCHISE? IF SO, HOW MUCH IS IT TO OPEN ONE? ARE YOU REGULATED TO CERTAIN LOCATIONS? PLEASE ADVISE AND GIVE ME MORE INFORMATION ON HOW TO OPEN ONE AND HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS. I MIGHT KNOW SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO OPEN ONE. THANK YOU, DONNA JUISTA

It's been found that Golden Spoon yogurt was false advertising. The LA Times reported that the yogurt actually has 33 nondat calories per ounce. That's DOUBLE what they advertise!
