Theraflu is one of the leading brands of cold relief in America. Novartis make a wide variety of products under this brand name aimed at treating every possible symptom you could complain of whilst you have a cold. The various different varieties contain a selection from the following ingredients.

Acetaminophen- a standard ingredient in most preparations to relieve headaches, fever and aching joints
Chlorpheniramine, Pheniramine and Diphenhydramine- sedating antihistamines. They will dry up a runny nose caused by a cold or hay fever and so relieve sneezing.
Dextromethorphan- a suppressant for the dry tickly cough associated with a cold.
Phenylephrine- a non-drowsy decongestant to relieve the congestion of a cold or dry up a runny nose. It is used in ear infections to relieve sinus congestion.
Guaifenesin- Thins mucus in the air passages making it easier to cough up the mucus and clear the airways, allowing you to breathe more easily.

Theraflu present their cold medication as tablets, liquid, hot drinks and a new novel approach, the strip. These strips dissolve in the mouth to provide relief, without the need to carry around the liquid, or find a drink to swallow caplets with. Each presentation is further divided into day or nighttime use allowing easy selection of the most useful product for you. You decide how you would prefer to take your medicine, and then whether you want daytime nighttime or all day relief and select the most appropriate product.

As with all cold and flu remedies Theraflu is not suitable for every one to take and if you take any other medicines or have any other medical conditions you should consult your pharmacist on which will be the most appropriate treatment for you. Remember to check the ingredients of whichever product you select to make sure that you don't double up on anything by accident. Acetaminophen overdoses are very dangerous, and occur accidentally every year when people don't realize that it is present in many products.
