What Affect Does the Voting Feature on A.c. Really Have?

Does This Really Affect Your Article in Anyway or is it Just There for an Extra Feature Just Sitting There

Being on Associate content now for around three months consistent I have noticed so many different things with associate content. I have learned so many amazing things from such great inspiring writers that just keep me on my feet and writing away. I have also learned no matter what you always learn something new every day and to me that's such a great feeling to know your mind is always working and learning. What I did come across was so many articles that I read or comment on people aren't voting on them. When I read a persons article I always make sure to vote cause to me it's like a little boost of confidence in that persons writing. Personally I don't think the voting feature really makes any difference. It's not like those little stars are gonna make you more money or make you more popular. However I do feel they should take the voting part off since not too many people are acknowledging it and maybe instead of having the top three most commented on why not have a article from each category at the bottom. This way it gives more people a chance where you have a different taste or variety of articles to read. I enjoy all the articles on here very much. It gives me such a great feeling when I come upon a article that I know nothing about and learn so much from it. They always say that you learn something new every day no matter what you are doing or where you are. I am always brave enough to be willing to learn or create a new recipe or making something with my kids. To me writing is all about using your imagination, creativity, and your talents at what you are good at. Life is about having variety to be able to spice things up so having more than three articles at the bottom may help this, but also taking the voting feature off and maybe placing it with the best recipe of the day, best poem of the day, how to make and repair items, quote of the day, prom article, or even maybe the best volunteering article. This way it would grab more people attention and they will see how it would make a difference.

I'm sure you could've figured me out on this one...haha. But my two cents seem to waver. Some days I think it's great, other days I just don't get the function. If the clout system were affected by votes, that would make sense, but it's a total mystery to me. I just say since it's there, vote honest! I have known some people who rate people low just because they don't like that person or a topic they discuss...which is very immature. It's refreshing to hear your take on what writing means to you. Thanks for the input, it's so valuable when people discuss AC and the way it runs, I'm sure it helps them with future incarnations of the site. :)

I think your suggestions are valid...I do vote and I do think alot of people take notice...

I also like the votes. Its both a good way to give people a kudos AND a way to discourage bad and inaccurate articles. It would be nice if there was a way to search for "highest rated" articles, or a listing on the front page of some of the best.

A lot of people never vote but I figure if the article is good, I outta say so with my mouth AND my vote.

A agree with Randy but found your article VERY interesting. If I may be so bold as to offer suggestion re formatting - articles are easier to read if they are broken doen into short paragraphs. This is technical commentary and, in no way, takes anything away from the xcellence of your content! Thanks. Daid

I like to have nice star numbers but I think comments are more important, to a potential reader.

You got me to thinking on this one. I do know that when my star points meter went up on an article it made me feel proud and think wow! someone is reading my stuff. I like that I am able to vote on an item even if I dod not have time to comment. I do know from experience on another site that some can be just downright mean about the way they vote just because they are in a bad mood that day or don'tagree with what you wrote. I think your article had some great suggestions and valid points. Great job!

I agree... not sure if it has any effect, but the voting part is a great way to give a writer a pat on the back!! Thanks for all the comments and praise. I'll be looking for more wonderful articles from you in the future! :o)

People seem to vote less now with the new system but I still vote...if nothing else it gives the writer warm fuzzies.

I'm guilty of often forgetting to vote when I leave a comment. I'm going to try to be better. Thanks for the article.!
