I recently bought the Corer from the Oxo Good Grips and this is yet another brilliant product from this popular brand. Once again the Oxo has proven beyond doubt the versatility of their technical expertise and their commitment to the customers to deliver quality and user friendly product at affordable price. It is so thoughtful of the people at Oxo to come up with such a useful tool. The corer that I was using prior to Oxo had a heavy wooden handle and the blade became blunt after few months.

To design a core is certainly not a tough job but the other corers that I have used earlier were so frustrating that I stopped using them and went for knife. But as age started catching up I could no longer strain my weak joints to use a knife for coring and de-seeding. The Oxo corer is an outstanding tool that has brought a relief to a number of people who find it difficult and time consuming to peel, slice and remove the core and seed from apple. My husband who refused to have apples simply because of the hard hitting apple core and disturbing seeds now readily take the fruit.

Now coming to the design of the corer this is made of a 4 inch long stainless steel blade inserted into a 4 inch long typical Oxo Good Grip handle. The blade is sharp enough to drill into the fruit and takes the flesh out in the first attempt itself. Once the blade is thrusted inside the apple do not stop in midway and push it in smooth swirling motion. The corer takes the seeds and central pith and this can be easily removed. It is dishwasher safe. The soft and gentle rubber handle with the special fins absorb the stress from the hand and you do not feel the impact.

This corer can be used for not only on apples but also with pears. Now I core the apples and pears effortlessly like an expert chef. The core is removed with incredible perfection and the apple looks stunning and neat with uniform core. This apple and rings can be used to make pies, dumplings and brownies. This has made my life easy and last time cored nearly 40 apples in a single sitting for canning.
