I've had a CECT P168 (IClone) for a while now and have been loving it. This phone can do anything - surf the web, listen to music, play videos, etc. and it looks very very similar to an Iphone. Also, you can use it with any service provider you chose. It also has a removable battery, which makes it head and shoulders above the Iphone in my opinion. I do not want to have to go the dealer when the battery dies and I do not want to have to pay $100 per month for AT&T. Also, this phone has TWO sim slots (and you don't need to turn the phone off) allowing you separate options for business and leisure.

Needless to say, when the new version came out (The CECT P168 Quadband) I had to try it, of course. The photos and videos floating around the web made it look very intriguing.

How To The New CECT P168 Quadband Different From The Original CECT P168? The major difference is obviously that this is a quad band phone which means that it is literally plug and play. It works all over the world with any GSM / GPRS phones: GSM GPRS 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz. It also has upgraded firmware. Additionally, there is a webcam added, a slide unlock feature (which makes everything very easy) and a very nice surround sound feature added. (A complete list of specs are listed below)

There is also a bit of a difference in the touch screens. The CECT Plus with Quadband feels a bit firmer and more like glass. The Bluetooth capability in this one is awesome and the surround sound is phenomenal. I bought this item on EBay. There are at this time only around three sellers selling this. I am sure that over time the price will come down, but right now, it's still at about $100. That is still a very good deal for a phone of this one's capabilities. It offers everything a person could possibly need. And it appears that it is priced similarly to the original CECT P168.

All in all, I love both phones and would recommend either one. If you have any doubt that you need quad band capabilities, you'll obviously want to go with this new Quad band version. Here are the specific specs of the CECTP168 Quadband:

Are these useable in NZ? The standard tri-band P168 is....no mention of NZ on the quad band....would it be assumed that it would work fine here??

No, it is still not Java capable.

Did they ever get the JAVA 2.0 support to actually work in the p168 plus version? In a lot of the reviews for the original p168, it's mentioned that the JAVA 2.0 support claim in the specs is either bogus, or the feature is so bugged that the company disabled it before shipping. Since the feature is still claimed in the specs for the plus version, is that claim accurate this time?
