Speaking as some who is oft without money and rarely ever in a position to spend it when I have it, I know a thing or two about getting the best food for your buck in this concrete jungle. Even though most of everything that goes on in

New York City is centered around some type of cash exchange, there are still a few diamonds in the rough that don’t cost too much to dig for…Croxley Ales – (Lower East Side) This bar has one of the cheapest things I love most…10 cent wings!* Anytime I’m feening for a big meal that I’m sure to enjoy, I run over to this well-known bar and order 40 wings for four bucks! But that’s not the only thing on the menu. There are a mix of enjoyable appetizers and drinks that anybody who is not satisfied by 10 cent wings can enjoy. From a cheap and huge plate of nachos, to an even bigger bowl of fish n’ chips, Croxley Ales does bar food the right way…BIG 'N CHEAP! But their drinks are just as impressive and just as cheap. Their Kool-Aid mixed drinks are also well worth the price, and they have a world renowned collection of beers and wines, many of which only cost $4. The atmosphere at Croxley Ales is as lively as the food. Being in the East Village, it is has great diversity and conversation runs ramped. People seem to be quite friend there and are willing to talk to strangers more than the people they come with. And there is a garden in the back where people can go outside and eat and drink, and it’s get chattier outside than it does in the bar. (*$0.10-wings are available from 5p.m.-1a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, during the day on Saturdays, and from noon to 1a.m. on Sundays)

Takeaways
  • Their Kool-Aid mixed drinks are also well worth the price.
  • The best part about this place though is its array of foods.
  • Their ribs are remarkable, their chili is crushing, and their steak is staggering.
