The Virtual Console is off to a slow start in 2008 with just seven games released in January. Nintendo must have felt it wasn't necessary to release too much during the post holiday rush. While the pickings are slim, the Virtual Console has some good releases that are worth checking out. Here are the top five Virtual Console titles released in January for the Nintendo Wii:

5. Adventures of Lolo 2

Developer: HAL Laboratory, Inc., Publisher: HAL Laboratory, Inc., Original System: NES, Original Release Date: 1990, Genre: Puzzle, Controller Options: Classic, Gamecube and Wii Remote, Wii Points: 500, ESRB Rating: E
Adventures of Lolo 2 is the sequel to the original sleeper hit puzzle game. Lala gets kidnapped (again) and it's up to Lolo to save her (again). Although it doesn't stray far from the first, part 2 adds more complex mazes for gamers looking for a challenge. It may not be for everyone, but Adventures of Lolo 2 is a solid pickup.

4. Pac-Attack
Developer: Namco, Publisher: NBGI, Original System: Super NES, Original Release Date: 1993, Genre: Puzzle, Controller Options: Classic and Gamecube, Wii Points: 800, ESRB Rating: E
Namco's mascot, Pac-Man decides to take a break from his maze exploration to star in his own puzzle game. Similar to Tetris, Pac-Attack adds an extra twist to the falling blocks gameplay by incorporating Pac-Mans and ghosts into the mix. Although 800 Wii Points is a little too much for a simple puzzle game, Pac-Attack is worth at least a look.
