Tonkawa Tribal president Anthony Edward Street is scheduled to appear in Kay County, Oklahoma District Court on April 4 after being arrested in Blackwell, Oklahoma on suspicion of attempting to sell drugs at a hotel.

The police affidavit obtained at the Kay County Courthouse states that Street, 43, was arrested by Blackwell police on Jan. 12 at 11:17 a.m. after an employee at the Best Western Hotel in Blackwell called police and advised that a woman reported a man selling drugs outside room number 105.

According to the affidavit officers responded to the hotel and made contact with Street. They advised Street of the complaint. Street then signed a form giving officers permission to search the room.

The affidavit states that police found a small amount of a green leafy substance, which field tested positive for marijuana, inside a small wooden box within the drawer of the a table located beside the bed. Also found was a glass pipe, lighter and a small metal rod with residue on one end.

Street was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and transported to the Blackwell jail.

An hour later, a worker at the hotel called police and advised that cleaning crews discovered bags containing white powder. Police returned to the hotel and discovered subtonics that field tested positive for methamphetemine and cocaine.

Street was later transported to the Kay County jail where he bonded out. Ponca City attorney James Schaefer appeared in court on Street's behalf Jan. 18 for an initial appearance. Charges have not been filed against Street by the Kay County District Attorney's office as of yet but are expected.

Street is a former member of the Kay County Justice Facilities Authority, a board created by the county to deal with an ongoing jail crisis in the county.

He resigned from the board shortly after being appointed citing tribal election issues as the reason.
