Here you'll find ways to keep your dog from getting cold at night. I've used a few of these ways to keep my Shi-Tzu warm after his coat was trimmed. Animals have fur to keep them warm, but an older dog or a dog with shorter or thinner fur can quickly become cold at night. Keep your dog warm with one of these helpful ideas. You wouldn't want to be cold at night while trying to sleep, and your dog doesn't want to be either.
Dog Clothing
Some dogs are good at staying covered with blankets, but since dogs don't have hands or the ability to cover themselves, some find it impossible to stay warm at night. Instead of covering your dog every couple of hours, buy him a sweater. Visit Discount Clothes for Dogs for valuable links to discount clothing stores for dogs. He's sure to stay warm when covered with a comfy sweater or coat.
Buy Him an Indoor Igloo
Dogs stay warmer when surrounded by an enclosure, even indoors. If you suspect your dog is getting cold at night, consider buying him an Igloo enclosure for dogs. If he's accustomed to using a dog house when he's outside, he'll likely be willing to use one inside. The price of an Igloo is well worth it to keep him warm.
Provide Plenty of Blankets
No matter where your dog sleeps, provide him with plenty of warm blankets or large towels. He might not stay covered, but he'll be able to create a nest with the materials you provide. My dog used to have a single blanket and a small pillow in his indoor dog house, but when winter arrived I provided him with a second blanket. Dogs feel drafts too!
