Risers

One of the many ways to set a professional looking buffet table is to first set out your plain table. Now, before you start adding any fabric, add some risers. These will add height to the different plates on the table.

Plastic Coke crates work best for this. They are about 1.5 foot wide and 2 feet long. They are also very stable. Wood boxes and books will work as well.

Lay out the crates, books, or boxes in different locations on your wedding table. I like to stack them 2 tall in the middle, then work lower towards the edges of the table Create "peeks" and "valleys" to create the interesting in the night.

Add Fabric

Now, drape a plain white tablecloth over the table.

Tip: It is also a great id to drape the whole table first, then add the rises, and then add this drape of fabric. Gently toss it over the whole top of the table, covering the risers.

Now, for the accent fabric. This can be smaller square or rectangle pieces of accent fabric. Thes can be draped on top, scrunched and set on top. or laid on top to flow over the table.

This is where the color can come in. Try to chose a color of fabric that matches you wedding color, has a pattern that carries on yoru wedding theme, or simply looks elegant. This is where you can set the whole tone of your wedding buffet tables.

Add Details

Finally, start adding your plates of food to the risers. Around the plates you can fill in with fun details that match the theme of your wedding.

For instance, photos, college letters, flowers, candles, floating candle bowls, framed photos, or other fun details that coordinate with your wedding.

Pretty soon you will have an elegant wedding buffet that you created yourself!
