Nothing brings a smile to my face more than receiving a card in the mail from a friend. Occasion or not, in this modern age of email it is nice to see somebody take the time to put pen to paper and send a note card. These adorable star themed note cards can be made individually for use or as a set for gift giving.

For this project, you will need:

- Dark Purple Colored Cardstock

- Lavender Purple Colored Cardstock

- Autumn Leaves Clear Stamps "Hearts and Stars" (in stores or online at Paper Addict)

- Acrylic Stamp Block

- Bright Purple Ink Pad

- Lavender or Light Purple Colored Chalk

- Scissors

- Glue Stick

- Star shaped stencil

- Pencil

- Acrylic finishing spray

Begin first by folding the piece of lavender purple colored cardstock in half to form a "card" shape. Lay the star shaped stencil directly onto the paper so that one straight side of the star encompasses part of the fold. (This is extremely important, as this is what allows the card to "open".) With a pencil, trace the star shape and cut it out.

Lay the dark purple colored cardstock directly onto your workspace. Trace a smaller version of the same star shape onto the paper with a pencil. Cut the star shape out. Matte the smaller star shape to the larger star card with a glue stick. Let the glue dry fully.

Adhere the largest of the star stamps from the Autumn Leaves Clear Stamps "Hearts and Stars" collection to the acrylic stamp block. Gently press the stamp to the bright purple ink pad and transfer the design directly onto the paper. Let the ink dry completely.

Using the lavender or light purple chalk, create "movement lines" from the back of the stamped star. Write the words "You're My Shooting Star" underneath in chalk. Spray the entire project with a bit of acrylic finishing spray to set the chalk drawing design in place. Once the card has dried, open it up and write in your favorite sentiment in silver gel pen. Give to a friend or family member to brighten their day!

Takeaways
  • Be sure to "scuff" brand new clear stamps before use.
  • Make sure the card still folds when you cut the star shape out of cardstock.
  • "Set" the chalk with acrylic finishing spray to prevent a mess.
