Pet names are given to loved ones to let them know how you feel for them or are merely terms of endearment. Setting your lover apart from all others, a private name you give to them alone makes them feel special. After all, it takes a special person to be your Snooky Pants. And feeling comfortable enough to allow yourself to be overtook by sappy emotions are uncontrollable when you are in love. And we all know we do some silly things when we are in love including allowing someone to call us outside of our given name especially with a silly name like "sweet mushmouth". Those who know me don't even try to figure out if any these names belong to me or my significant other because that is a private matter.

Some names I've seen and heard over the years range from sugary sweet to outrageous. Common ones like "baby" are so generic that a person may use a name like that when they have multiple friends who they don't want to confuse with each other. I guess that trick may be in the player's handbook.

How we loose our autonomy and turn into a completely different person after being hit by cupid's arrow is a mystery. I guess it comes with being familiar with a person and through feelings of closeness. However, not everyone uses "pet names". In honor of Valentine's Day, I thought I'd write about romance and the use of tag names or pet names as they have become known as.

When you were single you may have made yucky faces behind the backs of sickening friends who used mushy terms with their lover. But now that you've found that someone special you may at time refer to your significant other as "honey", or "sweetheart". Some names draw on certain parts of the body like "Puppy Dog Eyes" or "Sweet Lips" can be created for an individual. "My boo", "my man", "my old lady" and "my baby" are all names used at times to describe your significant other but what about "thickness" or "honey hips". Any name you give your love that they do not feel comfortable with is not a good fit. Try out a few and see if they take or dare to be creative and think of your own private name. Using it the right way with affection and attention, I'm sure they won't mind being called your Love Machine.
