The Cherry Pitter from the Oxo Good Grips is possibly the best tool to remove the pith and seeds from the cherry effortlessly. I am telling you this based on my personal bitter experience with the previous Leifheit Pro Line Cherry Pitter. The Leifheit worked fine for few days and after that the plunger came out and the next time the base developed cracks. I almost lost interest in cherries and my friend who suggested me the Cherry Pitter from the Oxo. I am a great fan of Oxo products and for some reason it did not occur to me check for the pitter in the catalogue. If only I had known earlier about this pitter, I would never have wasted my time and money on other useless pitters.

The Oxo Good Grips Cherry Pitter is brilliantly designed to core the ripe cherries and remove the seeds without feeling the pressure. This is a simple device crafted ergonomically to pit the cherries with ease. What I liked the most about this pitter is the Splatter guard that prevents the cheery juice to escape and splash on the table. This screen is tall enough to stop the juice from throwing out and this not only avoids the mess on the countertop but also safeguards the clothes and hands getting soaked in the juice. The fresh cherry juice is sticky and stains the clothes. I no longer have to worry about clearing the mess and wiping the table after pitting the cherries.

This is basically designed to pit cherries and I also use it for green olives. The Oxo Cherry Pitter is supposed to be versatile in handling cherries of all size. I find that the pitter is not perfect with too small and large cherries. However it is not a big problem and the only issue is that some flesh of the cherry still hangs to the plunger and you have to manually carve t hem out using a knife. This works fine with medium sized cherries. Though I highly recommend this pitter to all my friends I would like to caution that this is not a perfect and fool proof tool. In rare cases some very small seeds and pith are left in the cherry.
