You might think that washing makeup brushes don't have that much effect on you but it does, and effect is very big. The makeup on the brushes can be mixed with the oil on your face and react with the air to leave some colors that you don't want, and mostly importantly, the bacteria from your skin will deposit there if left unwashed for awhile and cause sensitivity and acne. I was so afraid of getting acne when I tried my makeup brush cleanser by MAC.The first reason for getting MAC's makeup brush cleanser is simply because I like the brand and at $10, it was cheaper than other brands like Bobbi Brown, which has a similar makeup brush cleanser for $18. Later, I found out that it has antibacterial properties and will help get rid of all the bacteria that you don't want on your makeup brush and a lot of makeup brush cleansers at that price don't so MAC's cleanser is a great choice.
The texture is amazingly watery, exactly like water. I thought I would use this up very quickly but I didn't. First of all, you only need to clean your makeup brush once or twice a week, and when you do, you don't need as much of this product as you think. I first yet my brush and then put some cleanser on it, just a few drops- maybe seven, and it lathers very nicely. I was very surprised by how it lathers. You can get all the makeup out of it by rinsing it with water first and or after using the cleanser. Then, squeeze all the water out very gently, don't shake the brushes or it'll shed. After, you should dry it with a cloth and let it sit overnight before using it again. I love how this smells the day after washing it. It's so fresh and has a little citrus scent.
A lot of people use a shampoo to wash the makeup brushes, and it might work, but it shouldn't be your first choice for a lot of reasons including that the shampoos don't wash off as easily and it might irritate your skin and that makeup doesn't wash off as easily with shampoos.
