Tammy Faye Messner, the woman who helped her then-husband Jim Bakker build an evangelism empire that later collapsed died on July 20th at 65 years old from Colon and Lung Cancer.

Ingmar Bergman died July 30th at the age of 87. Ingmar was a Swedish filmmaker and one of the greatest artists in cinema history.

August

Merv Griffin, singer turned TV host of numerous game shows, including 'The Merv Griffin Show' and 'Circus of the Stars'. He died on August 12th at the age of 82 from Prostate Cancer.

Hilly Kristal, the man who gave us the Manhattan club CBGB's that was birthplace of punk rock, died of Lung Cancer on August 28th. Hilly was 75.

September

Luciano Pavarotti, the opera superstar hailed as "king of the high C's" died on September 6th at the age of 71. Luciano suffered from Pancreatic Cancer.

Madeleine L'Engle, author whose Science Fiction books like "A Wrinkle in Time"captivated schoolchildren and their parents alike, died of natural causes on September 6th. Madeleine was 88.

Jane Wyman, actress who won an Oscar for her role as a deaf rape victim in "Johnny Belinda" and later starred in TV's "Falcon Crest", died on September 10th at the age of 90 after suffering complications from arthritis and diabetes. Jane Wyman was former-President Ronald Reagan's ex-wife.

Author Robert Jordan died from a Blood disease at the age of 58 on September 16th. Mr. Jordan was know foe his Science Fiction/fantasy novels.

Marcel Marceau, the French master of pantomime who transformed silence into poetry died on September 22nd at the age of 84.

October

Deborah Kerr died at 86 years of age on October 16th after suffering complications from Parkinson's disease. Deborah Kerr was the actress who kissed Burt Lancaster on a beach in "From Here to Eternity," danced with Yul Brynner in "The King and I" and had "An Affair to Remember" with Cary Grant.
