The Best WWE King of the Ring Winners

World Wrestling Entertainment used to hold an annual tournament that would declare a "King of the Ring". This tournament was usually used to propel superstars to greatness in the WWE and while some of the winners have fallen flat, many of them have gone on to huge success. Here is a look at some of the best King of the Ring winners.

Bret Hart: Bret Hart may be one of the WWE's best technical wrestlers and he was already a former World Champion before he entered the 1993 King of the Ring. In the three challengers that he faced during the tournament, he proved that he could go up against any style of wrestling and that he was one of the best wrestlers in the WWE. He fought Mr. Perfect is a classic mat wrestling match that both wrestlers performed well in. then he took on Razor Ramon is a slightly faster pace and was able to pull out the victory there. His final match was up against Bam Bam Bigelow and it would prove to be one of his toughest challenges of the night. After a false finish, Bret Hart got onto Bigelow's shoulders and then performed a victory roll and got the victory. He was crowned King and only went on to greater things in the WWE.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: Before Stone Cold Steve Austin was a household name, he was the Ringmaster and then slowly converted to just Steve Austin. He would use his aggressive ring style to get through Bob Holly, Savio Vega, and Marc Mero to make his way into the finals up against the legend Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Austin quickly disposed of Roberts and it is during his victory speech that he got the fans attention spouting the famous catchphrase "I'm Austin 3:16 and I just whooped your ass!"

Triple H: Triple H, then known as Hunter Hearst Helmsley was ready to conquer the WWE and he made a huge statement during the King of the Ring tournament. After losing by DQ, but making his way back onto the bracket he defeated Crush and Ahmed Johnson to make it to the finals. There he would go up against Mankind in a twenty minute battle that may be one of the best King of the Ring finals. Triple H got the victory and now he is one of the WWE's top superstars.
