For instance, asking me to give up carbs long term is a recipe for failure. As much as I wish I didn't crave or like carbs, I do. And, not having carbs long term unfortunately does not reduce these cravings. It only makes me want carbs more. So, obviously the South Beach diet could not work for me long term.
I only became a successful dieter once I was honest with myself. The truth is. I like carbs. I hate to cook. And I don't want to have to think about dieting and make dieting decisions all of the time. After a lot of research, I settled on Medifast because Medifast allows me to still have my carbs (in the way of bars, shakes, cocoas, and oatmeals) and Medifast doesn't require me to prepare a lot of meals. Most of the smaller meals are good tasting and prepackaged.
I do have to prepare my daily "lean and green" meal but I have come to look forward to that and I make it real easy on myself by usually grilling lean meat and using bagged salads, bagged veggies or stream in bag veggies. I am still not having to do a tremendous amount of work, but I am getting quick, good nutrition and I am losing weight.
