London is home to hundreds of specialist cigar shops. Even though the UK government has increased restrictions on smoking in public places, these cigar shops still survive and thrive. If you're a cigar aficionado, you'll definitely want to check out some of these shops and, don't forget, if you're American and unable to buy Cuban goods in the US, these shops also sell Cuban cigars.

Cigars Unlimited in Southwest London is located in Fulham, near Chelsea Football Club and has a large selection of cigars, humidors and accessories. In store, they have a large walk-in humidor, and a huge range of cigar accessories including lighters, cigar cases, cigar cutters and books. This store is perfect for gifts for the cigar aficionado, especially because they have one of the largest Havana cigar selections in England. Cigars Unlimited will also deliver, so call them for prices. 129, Walham Green Court, Moore Park Road, Fulham, London - 020 7386 9938

Alfred Dunhill. One of England's most famous tobacco companies, Alfred Dunhill has a very large selection of cigars and all the accessories. It is also one of THE places to buy cigars or cigar paraphernalia. Upstairs, they have a big walk-in humidor, and seating where you can sit and read while enjoying the collection of cigars all around you. Don't forget to browse their vintage and rare section too. Here you will see cigars you have never been able to find anywhere else. 27 Jermyn St, London - 020 7290 8600

James J Fox and Robert Lewis is the most famous cigar shop in London. In business since 1787, they have the most exclusive cigars, hand-crafted French humidors, and also have UK exclusives of many lines of cigar. Ashton Taylor pipes are one of their specialty lines as well as Elie Bleu humidors and smoking accessories. Also check out the Freddie Fox Room, which holds their museum. Here you can see what is probably the last existing box of Luis Marx cigars, and the box of Romeo y Julieta Torpedos cigars that used to belong to Sir Winston Churchill. 19 St James's Street, London - (0)20 7930 3787

Justice, the UK law is definitely affecting things for cigar and smoke shops. Some have closed because business fell, but there are places where you can smoke and you can always smoke at home :-), so the shops I've listed have managed to survive so far since the law went into effect. It's going to be the same everywhere soon though. Thailand has just introduced the same law - no smoking in any air conditioned pubs, restaurants, night clubs, etc. and they're actually ARRESTING people here who do so :-) I think it's a good thing though - most people here don't smoke, and we don't want to breath this stuff in when we're eating. BUT I do think rooms should be set aside for people who want to smoke.

Oh, (almost forgot) What about the UK's draconian indoor anti-smoking policy? Would that affect these fine cigar shops at all? Seriously, though, it would be nice to smoke a REAL hand-rolled Cuban for once in my life (cuz ya CAN'T get 'em here!)

Mike, isn't that funny - I think pretty much every American thinks about Clinton when someone mentions cigars LOL.
