Words, they are all around us, and each word has derived from somewhere stemming from a certain meaning. But, there are some words that are considered so vulgar or offensive that it has become alittle out of control. Words that have claimed to be unacceptable to be taught to our children, heard in our schools, or said in our churches, or even in random public places. A lot of people become so offended by these words. But what is in a word? Do people really know why they are used or what they even really mean? Or for that matter, it may be just a word. Just like every other word that is out there… but somewhere along the way someone declared it a ‘bad word’.

First example; Hell. According to the encyclopedia, it is defined as a place or a state of pain and suffering.

Second example; Bitch. A bitch is a female dog and also a primitive form of lamp used in Alaska and Canada.

Third example; Bastard. The condition of being born of parents who were not validly married to one another; Illegitimacy; the legal term was bastardy.

Fourth example; Shit or Shite is a vernacular word in modern english denoting feces, the byproduct of digestion. It is an old and native English word, but following the French, Latin and Anglo-Saxon terms for many common objects and bodily functions began to be seen as more distinguished than native words.

Fifth example; Fuck. An English word, which was derived in the late 17th century meaning “to strike” or “to penetrate”.
