Here's How to Deal with Customer Service and Technical Support:Gather Your Information
Get everything together that will help you during the phone conversation. This includes any receipts, invoices, product numbers, and also the packaging if you have it handy. The people on the other end will probably ask you specifics about the product, and it is good to have all that information handy.
Be Patient
It is important to place the call with a clear mind, because you don't want to risk getting flustered with the person on the other end of the phone. You may not get the answer you want right away, or the customer service representative may not understand what you want at first, so it is key to keep calm and be patient with the whole experience. You may have to repeat information more than once if you are transferred, but just keep your cool and the person on the other end is going to be even more willing to help you out.
Be Assertive
If you feel like you are getting the run-around on the phone, remember, it is you as the consumer that has the power here. Though it may feel like the customer service representative has all the "cards", the company they work for wants their customers to go away happy most of the time. Keep that in mind if it sounds like they are just trying to get you off the phone, because they can always transfer you to someone else that values your time.
Talk To The Right Person
It's also important to talk to the right person. If you feel the person you are talking to doesn't know much about your product or how to troubleshoot it, ask to speak to their supervisor, or someone else in that department. There are always multiple people waiting to help customers, so just find the person that you feel most comfortable talking with.
