A Review of Filter Queen Vacuum Cleaners

The Best Vacuum Cleaner Money Can Buy

The Filter Queen canister vacuum is an excellent value. When you consider that they are built to last for decades, they can be a cost effective choice. These vacuums offer an excellent method to keep your entire home clean and dust free. The world famous "cyclonic" action creates an
effective cleaning system. I have personally owned a Filter Queen for over 26 years. These machines have been improved over that time and still offer the highest quality for your dollar. They are backed by a tried and true history.

The first models became available in 1928. Invented by Mr. E.H. Yonkers in Illinois, they were originally sold as "Health-Mor Uprights". A few years later the name was changed to Filter Queen. These machines offered a new technology and were available exclusively through home distributors. This patented technology has been copied by wind tunnel designs that are so prevalent today. However, the Filter Queen vacuum is designed to outlast and out clean any cleaning unit on the market.

One of the key feature of a Filter Queen is the filtration system. The canister uses a cone shaped filter. As air is sucked into the canister, dirt and and other airborne particles are forced toward the outer walls. Then the air passes through the filter which traps the smaller particles. Airflow is maintained even as the canister is filling with dirt and dust. This system maximizes the cleaning ability of the vacuum at all times.

One of the more popular Filter Queen models, the Majestic 360, comes complete with power nozzle for cleaning floors and a variety of other attachments. The vacuum motor is two-speed and the power nozzle has a motor-driven deep- cleaning revolving brush. There a several attachments that make dusting and furniture cleaning a breeze. You can also use an extension to clean curtains and cobweb in ceilings. As you are cleaning surfaces, the unit is also cleaning the air. In fact you can run this machine on low or high speed without using attachments. It then becomes a portable air cleaner.

Bought one from a salesman 1.5 years ago. Paid $2500 for both the Majestic and Defender. Total waste of money. If you don't buy original filters from the manufacturer, your "lifetime warranty" is void - those cost me $75 this year. If you have allergies, you dumping out the canister probably negates any good you got from vacuuming, the dust goes everywhere. I prefer the Dyson DC14.

I wish I still had my Oreck upright. I hate using the Filter Queen because it is heavy and clumsy; hard to avoid tipping canister over, hard to get around corners, and I can't see any improvement over how well it cleans. The rubber "bumper" has come loose and the main wand broke and cost $100 to replace. Hard to empty; hard to deal with cord. Hate it!

The Filter Queen hose is interchangeable and a bojack (non-original) hose can be fitted if you want the power cord model. It's a good vacuum, but the Kirby vacuum is the only upright that will clean UNDER the carpet as well as pull the dead skin cells out of your matress. Yeah, they're heavy and bulky... but they hold up forever.

This is the worst buy I have made. Yes they do a good job but do not look for service. Ours has had a bad hose with in the first 6 months. No dealer around us and we did not have the internet. Now all we here is to bad from filter queen. I will never recomend them nor will I ever buy another one.

I have had my Filter Queen now for 39 years and it is still running--parts wear out but not the motor. I will never switch to another brand...

Although Filter Queens are expensive thru in-home demos they're worth the $ but U can get them 4 less on eBay or garage sales & you'll save green. The Triple Crown mdl is the BEST since they hold up longer than the 70th Anniv. mdl thru 80th Anniv. mdl--blame it on the button latches on hose & wand 4 the 360 Series. Princess has the 'commercial grade' PN (48 Series) that's ideal 4 commercial applications (hotel cleaning & pro service) & they last better than the 88 Series PN.

I have SEVERAL Filter Queens (3 strait suction & 1 w/Power Nozzle) & they OUTCLEAN every vacuum I've ever had from Tristar to Vacuflo. Now I'll NEVER use other brands' vacuums again--FILTER QUEEN REALLY WORKS! The only thing I don't like is the Power Nozzle (older style) doesn't clean carpets as good as the 360 style PN; even a strait suction FQ outcleaned my old Rainbow & I got the FQ's container full after 3 wks vacuuming (I have ceramic tile after removing all carpet) My allergies are now 1/10 as bad as before I had my 1st FQ. Only use GENUINE FQ filters & NEVER re-use used cone or aftermarket filters since the generics leak 2 much dirt. That maybe the reason why some people complain about FQ not being powerful since they don't use genuine filters & parts or not checking if container is full, clogged hose/tools, etc.

Back in 84/85 my dad sold filter queens door to door and he drug along his 13 year old son. He had quite the speal, he would tell them about its power and show them it would pick up this big heavy weight shaped like bullet it weighed almost 2 lbs. Then he'd tell them how clean the air would be by hooking up this round canister on the hose and line it with the same paper as the filter. He'd then put in a piece of bread and do the demonstration. After doing the the whole living room he would open the canister and eat the bread.you could get several attachments for it such as; power nozzle, extension, 3 brushes,u-shaped goose neck for doing floors, a wet carpet cleaner and the last thing I remember was the scent dispenser that sat on the exaust and your house would smell all frangancee. He sold one to my grandmother an I inherited it and it has a 1985 anniversary tag on it and she's still Queen.

First, the reason you shouldn't buy Filter Queen's at second hand vac shops or on ebay is that the warranties are no good if not registered with Health-Mor by an authorized distributor. As for the pricing, they generally sell for 2198 (with the defender but you can get the filter queen from the distributor for about 1500, I believe the distributor pays about 1000 for both the Filter Queen and the Defender). For help finding parts you can always go to www.healthmor.com or www.filterqueen.com.
