Feeling green from too much beer? Well Kermit the Frog once stated, "It isn't easy being green". Obviously Kermit isn't Irish but millions of Americans can trace their heritage back to Ireland. Even though Saint Patrick's Day is not an American holiday, it has been widely accepted and assimilated into our culture. People everywhere don green hats, drink green beers, and carry four leaf clovers. Little do people know that an Irish invasion is taking over the silver screen. Some of today's finest actors and directors are Irish but little is known about them.

Let's look at some of the most memorable and recognizable characters portrayed in film. Super spy British agent James Bond has been delighting audiences since 1962, when a young actor, Sean Connery, first exclaimed "Bond, James Bond!" He took his martinis "shaken not stirred" and lived a life of elegance, espionage, and murder with caviar and Bollinger. But not every actor to play the lead role was born in the United Kingdom. Little known fact is that Pierce Brosnan was born in Navan, Meath, Ireland. Brosnan completed four Bond films but he got his first notoriety from playing the title character on a romantic detective series Remington Steele. He is considered one of the best actors to play the role of James Bond and has been stealing woman's hearts with extreme ease just like he steals paintings in The Thomas Crown Affair.
