Valentine's Day and the Unattached, Single Woman
Embed:
I am a single unattached woman. I am not dating anyone, even casually. I had the same status and happy circumstances for my birthday in October, at Christmas and the New Year. I did celebrate those occasions however, with people I love and who love me.I have taken notice that far too many single, unattached women are depressed, lonely and heartsick over their status, especially during holidays. Valentine's Day can bring about weeks of feeling unloved and undesirable.
I will be candid. I have been married and happy on Valentine's Day. I have been married and unhappy on Valentine's Day. What I reminded myself then as I do now is it doesn't take someone to create happiness for me. I'm not an uncaring, nonchalant, cold, frigid, impassionate woman. Au contraire! I happen to know who I am and whose I am. I have for a very long time, thanks to two loving parents and a host of other positive influences in my life.
I have learned to be content in whatever state (status) I am and to nourish that part of me that neither requires being affirmed or accepted. The affirmation and acceptance came through the bloodshed of Christ.
Therefore, as a single unattached woman, I am not alone nor am I feeling unloved and undesirable. Valentine's Day has nothing to do with it! I am the bride of Christ and am happy in being so.
I respect and believe in marriage. My parents were married for 38 years before mother's passing. They had a very solid marriage. They flirted with each other and were very much into each other. I know it wasn't easy as I've "been there and done that." He just wasn't like my dad!
What should a single, unattached woman do on Valentine's Day? I'll share with you what I do routinely because I'm in love and I am loved. Falling in love with Jesus was the best thing I've ever done.
Valentine's Day is on a Thursday so I will:
-Make party favors of Hershey's hugs and kisses and take to an Assisted Living Home
-Take several bottles of chilled sparkling white grape juice
-Serenade and dance with them
-Listen to charming stories on how they met or a favorite wedding anniversary or memory
