is Britney Spears' Life Really at Risk?

The Britney Spears saga continues this week, as Ms. Spears was released from UCLA Medical Center on February 6, 2008, just 6 days into a supposed 2 -week stint for a psychiatric evaluation.

Spears' parents, Jamie and Lynne, now fear for their daughter's life. In a statement they released after Britney's discharge from the hospital, her parents said, "We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk. We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted".
It's been no big secret that Britney has surrounded herself with some shady characters lately. Now that she's back out and amidst the paparazzi, her parents are right to be concerned.

Because Spears is an adult, there is little her family can do to protect her. If she refuses to get help for her obvious mental problems, no one can force her to. Doctors previously said that Spears is suffering from mental disorders that are "treatable". Unfortunately, if she refuses to get treatment there isn't much that anyone can do.

Fans have watched Britney Spears' life spiral out of control over the past two years, with the worst of it starting shortly after her divorce from her husband Kevin Federline. From her embarrassing "Dateline" interview with Matt Lauer, during which Spears had a slight meltdown, to repeated sightings of her driving without buckling her 2 children (toddlers Seam Preston and Jayden James) in their car seats, fans began getting concerned in 2006.
It only got worse in 2007, when Spears notoriously shaved her head in a California salon, romped around L.A. without undies, and stumbled through a disastrous performance on MTV's Video Music Awards. Although she attempted a few stints in rehabs like Crossroads Centre and Promises, Spears never stayed checked in for very long. Meanwhile, she lost complete custody of her kids in January, 2008.
