A young child, or even the most sewing-impaired individual, can master this simple "sewing" project for creating a small fleece blanket. The word "sewing" is placed in quotes because there is actually no real sewing required in this project. But with just a few easy steps, you can create your own finished fleece blanket from raw fabric. Here are the instructions for making a no-sew fleece blanket.

Supplies. The first step to making your own no-sew fleece blanket is to purchase or assemble the needed supplies. You will need two pieces of fleece fabric in identical sizes. You can choose whatever size you would like for your no-sew fleece blanket to be. If this is your first project, you might want to start small with a baby sized blanket. The fleece may be of the same color, two different colors, or one solid and one patterned. Just keep in mind that the two pieces will be fastened together so you want them to coordinate well to make an attractive no-sew fleece blanket. In addition to your fleece fabric you will need a pair of sewing scissors, a yard stick or ruler, and a pencil. These are all the supplies you need to create a no-sew fleece blanket.

Procedure. To create a no-sew fleece blanket begin by lining up your two pieces of fabric one on top of the other. It does not matter which piece is on top. Accuracy is of utmost importance. Make sure the two pieces of fabric are lined up perfectly. Using a yard stick or ruler, measure down six inches from the edge of the fleece fabric toward the middle and make a small pencil mark. Do this all the way around the edge of the blanket, about every 2 feet or so. Then using the yard stick or ruler, line up the marks you made and draw a faint line all along the edge of the fabric. Inside your square fabric you should now have a square created with a faint pencil line all the way around, about 6 inches in from the edge.

You can "sew" your own fleece blanket in only about an hour!

A girl I used to work with made these and sold them. They were so easy that she could make them at work in her free time and earn a little extra money on the side. They also make really affordable gifts!
