HUH?

I have a friend who rides a paradoxical bandwagon featuring hi-tech stoicism and anachronistic ritual sacrifice to the 8088 processor computer gods.

On the one side she loves technology and wants to keep up with the bleeding-edge latest, while on the other hand she absolutely abhors the fact that new end-user software and tools involve having to learn how to actually use them.

One of "those things" is a mouse, surprisingly enough. She hates it. She's old school and would rather just hit another key since her hands need to move enough as it is.

SO?

Q: Any of you out there act like my friend? Just get the new Microsoft Office 2007?

A: Well, you're in luck. And it's simple...

With one of the Microsoft Office applications open, just hit the ALT key. This invokes shortcut key displays for the options available on the ribbon you've opened to.

For instance, the picture here shows (in MS Word) that if you hit and release the ALT key, you could then hit "1" to save the document. Or hit "S" to move to the References Ribbon. This works in the other Office suite of applications, too.

GIT 'ER DONE!

While this won't get rid of having to work the mouse in all instances, it will cut down your mousing time significantly - thus leaving your hands free to whack more keys and get that work done!
