Four hours of sleep every night for the past week makes a woman wonder
if her pitiful money's really worth more than her girlish dreams

But even if she hates her life and who she's become she works beneath the moonlight
rejecting coffee because it never kept her up anyhow

One day she will escape from the person she promised she'd never be
and then she and her college sweetheart can finally buy a house

in the middle of the woods so far away from everything she knows never mattered to her
like the city and all the buzz of overpriced restaurants and stores she never even liked

They will have a little child, a boy or girl will do, so long as it's nothing in between
and it's healthy from all the spinach mommy-to-be will eat during her pregnancy

Their house will be a lovely shade of yellow just like in all the picture books she will read
to her baby and maybe they'll even adopt a cat and give it some pretentious name.

Of course she hasn't seen him---the sweetheart---for three weeks and she won't
be in his arms again for another five, even though they tried to work it out so that

they would see each other every single month until they both graduated from college
but this was the first time that they couldn't, that there was simply no way

thanks to all the work, thanks to all the work that they both put upon themselves.
