Is There Love After Divorce?

How can you still be so much the same

and yet so different from the man I left

Those eons of days, thousands of thoughts ago?

We were children then, though we grew together

and how were we to understand

That love is tougher than the winds of experience,

Stands straight or bends to the monsoon winds

and never dies but only hibernates

While we live apart and learn to laugh

alone.

How can we be so much at ease together

who knew precisely how to twist the knife

and still do...yet we hold back, for now we comprehend

What it is to lose as well as to love

and living on through all the loving days

We come again full circle, face to face once more.

Smile and wish each other well,

And oh, I do...want happiness for you

Joy and laughter and a rainbow filled with

Love.

I must go now, and hope you know

a part of my heart will stay with you

But if I linger the rest will want to follow

To the place where we once lived together

the place where we cannot go alone,

And new lovers will never find the way.

You keep sadness behind your eyes,

where others cannot see it...only me

and inside your heart a little crack where my tears stay

imprisoned.

This is beautiful and anyone who has experienced divorce like you and I have can relate to this pain. Beautifully written and expressed. very poetic.
