I woke up to take the pregnancy test, and before I even peed on the stick, I knew that it would be positive. For the first time, I had pregnancy symptoms that I'd never experienced before. Many women have this experience and are able to read the signs and the symptoms and know they are pregnant before modern science can confirm it. Some of the most common pregnancy symptoms cannot only help women confirm their pregnancy, but they may hang around for the first few weeks or months. Identifying and dealing with early pregnancy symptoms can help women as they try to conceive and then survive the first few weeks and months of a pregnancy.

Breast Tenderness
This was the first early pregnancy symptom that I experienced when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. While some women have breast tenderness regularly, this was something out of the ordinary for me. It occurred a few days before I expected my period, and was the first clue for me that I might be pregnant. This symptom was one that I dealt with in the early weeks of my pregnancies only. Simply avoiding touching or having my breasts touched was the easiest way to handle this symptom until it subsided.

Kelly, I'm 49 and a half and I thought I'd better read your article. Not to get too personal, but I am now 43 days between cycles with no sign of anything happening. I'm either pregnant or post-menopausal. Yikes! Excellent article, by the way.

To Penny, I can completely relate to that too. With my first pregnancy I just couldn't stand even the smell of chocolate which I usually LOVE. It was so bizarre! The worst part was that it was at it's worst right around the holidays when everyone was bringing sweets into the office. Ugh. Luckily that hasn't been a problem with this pregnancy---she says finishing up her second chocolate brownie--- LOL

Great article. For me I had bad cramps that I assumed meant my period was on the way and then it never showed for both of my pregnancies. That was my first clue that something was up. I didn't have any of the other symptoms until a few weeks after I had missed my period and knew I was pregnant. It's amazing how many changes your body goes through in the first few months when the baby is still so small!!

Great article! I experienced all of these symptoms with both pregancies. Another early clue for me was that I no longer craved coffee and I absolutely love it. Weird, but it happened both times I was pregnant!

Wonderful article! I had symptoms with my first three pregnancies, but with this last pregnancy, I had absolutely NO idea I was pregnant.
