The second semester of the school year is underway, and while many teenagers are planning their spring break getaways, some teens already are looking to make plans for their summer. While many teens will choose to work this summer, many others will spend their summer volunteering their time to various organizations. Here is a look at some of the many ways teenagers in Louisville, Kentucky, can give back to their community this summer by volunteering their time.

The Louisville Zoo Volunteen Program

The Louisville Zoo Volunteen Program is open to youth ages thirteen to eighteen years of age, and is designed to give those interested in pursuing a career in veterinary services a chance to gain hands on experience working with animal care. To become a teen volunteer teens must fill out an application, which must be accompanied by three written letters of recommendation, a current TB skin test, a current photo, and proof of immunizations against Measles. The zoo also asks that teen volunteers do not miss more than two weeks during the summer.
