On a recent visit to the grocery store I was frantically searching the cookie aisle for some decently healthy, but still tasty cookies to occupy by increasingly restless toddler until I could somehow dash out of the grocery store without facing a complete meltdown. As I rummaged through box after box of cookies filled with hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup (two ingredients banned from our household) I finally came upon a winner: Voortman Flax Seed Omega 3 Cookies.
OK, so admittedly, the name "Voortman Flax Seed Omega 3 Cookies" isn't exactly the most appealing designation for a cookie product. The title of these cookies, however, intrigued me. As someone always looking for the best health options in all foods, the Voortman Flax Seed Omega 3 Cookies really got my attention. I was interested to see just how healthy these cookies might be, and curious to see if a flax seed cookie could actually taste good.

I immediately investigated the ingredients list for the Voortman Flax Seed Omega 3 Cookies. I saw that there were no hydrogenated oils and no high fructose corn syrup listed! Even many of what used to be my favorite granola bars have this stuff in them. I was thrilled to find a cookie without these unhealthy ingredients.

As the name suggests, Voortman Flax Seed Omega 3 Cookies do have flax seed in them which provides 700 mg ALA Omega-3 Fatty Acids per one cookie. Additionally, each Voortman Flax Seed Omega 3 Cookie has 1 gram of fiber, 1.5 grams of protein, 80 calories, 4 grams of fat, and just 5 grams of sugar. One large Voortman Flax Seed Omega 3 Cookie is large enough to provide a nice sweet indulgence. The cookies aren't too sweet, but are definitely sweet enough to provide a nice treat (particularly for a toddler!). If you just need a small sweet treat in the evening, Voortman Flax Seed Omega 3 Cookies will do the trick.

A package of Voortman Flax Seed Omega 3 Cookies contains 24 large cookies and costs about $3.29. The oat filled cookies with the sweet taste of brown sugar are crunchy, but easy enough to chew for a toddler with only 6 teeth.

I'm not a big cookie eater. Had a box of Keeblers here for about two months and now they are almost all gone. Went to the store today, saw these Omega 3 cookies with flax seed and decided to buy them. I figured if they taste bad I won't eat cookies. Well shame on me, I've already eaten two. They are good and what's more, they're a healthful food. Maybe if this is all I eat for about a month, I'll lose some weight.

I bought them today and unfortunately, I've already eaten two of them. Why? Because they taste good and are healthful.

Anyone who is interested in what is good for them as well as tasting great will love these cookies. The name is what tips you off that these are really good for you. When I saw a cookie made with Flax Seed and No Trans Fats, Low in Sugar and Carbs I knew I would be a regular customer. Then after trying them, I was delighted because they are Delicious! I will be buying them all the time. The marketing sounds great to people who are health conscious!

Flax seed? I'll have to pass. I'm too chicken to even try something with flax seed. I'm weird, I know.

I'm with you all the way on our household's banning of hydrogenated oils and HFCS. I'm always on the lookout for healthier alternatives for my little ones. These sound great! Flaxseed really does taste good--my kids eat it in homemade cookies, smoothies, pancakes, & scrambled eggs.

They don't sound delicious, but I'll bet they are. The flax seed is a turn off.

great review!!..i eat these cookies and they are great..i actually decided to take the same concept..and make my own ..i used ground flax seed like a cup instead of nuts..i did this with chocolate chips..taking 1/2 the bag there making flax seed chocolate chip cookies.....everyone likes them...the reason i tried it is to reduce cost..with prices of grains and everything going sky high..the only way you beat this if you can make things yourself...besides i enjoy cooking and baking...

GReat review! I agree with others that they may need a better name, but I want to try them. I like other Voortman cookies and haven't seen these. :-)
