Using technology commonly referred to as VANESSA, the hearing impaired adult is provided with a unique experience in communication. VANESSA is the acronym used to describe the computerized system known as the Voice-Activated Network-Enabled Speech-to-Sign Assistant. Used worldwide, the device provides the hearing impaired adult an opportunity to communicate with businesses and even other individuals.
If you are hearing impaired, the use of the VANESSA system may provide for a unique way in which to communicate with others. While instant messaging is an efficient way in which to communicate, the VANESSA system actually provides a speech-to-sign communication tool, allowing those individuals without instant messaging to speak to a hearing impaired individual. In the receiving end, the hearing impaired individual receives the message by way of sign language provided by the computerized avatar.
For the hearing impaired adult with limited reading or writing ability, the use of the VANESSA system provides for a great way in which to manage communication with sign language. In addition, when written word or text messaging can be lengthy, the use of the VANESSA system provides for a more efficient means of communication.
Internationally, the use of the VANESSA system has been effective at assisting the hearing impaired in government related business such as that of the post office or in government controlled tax offices. Allowing clerks to communicate with speech, the hearing impaired clients receive the information by sign language, providing for a more efficient business and workflow process.
