An increasing number of men are placing importance on having and maintaining a healthy looking head of hair. In the past, importance of maintaining the condition of your hair and the style of your hair was considered to be largely a feminine trait. Here are some of the best hair care tips that I have found through a series of trial and error experiments.

A big part of maintaining healthy hair for men is in washing your hair. Many men will assume that washing the hair is as simple as the instructions on a bottle of shampoo: wash, rinse, repeat. This however is not the case. After years of living with dull and lifeless hair, and desperately needing to change the appearance of my hair, I decided to try something new. Instead of using my fingers to massage the shampoo into my hair, I decided to use a small pea-sized droplet of shampoo in four segments throughout my hair. Work these segments into lather with a teasing comb. Work the lather in the hair from the toot of the hair to the follicle of the hair for the best results. In about a week's time you hair will be easier to manage, and appear for more healthy.

After you wash your hair, there is a tendency among men to reach for the towel. Towel drying is the worst thing anyone can do for their hair. Use the towel to pat the hair dry, and then comb through your damp hair to finish drying. Combing through damp hair releases essential vitamins and nutrients for hair manageability and continued hair growth.

Speaking of hair growth, when is the right time for men to get a haircut? Though there are many men who enjoy longer hairstyles, this simply doesn't mean to let your hair grow and grow. Every few weeks, just as women do, men should also go in to their barber shop or hair salon for a slight trim. Keeping your hair untrimmed actually builds up oils which impedes hair growth, eventually leading to noticeable hair loss.
