It's time to stop the mailbox clutter. Junk mail is at an all-time high, and telemarketers are pushing harder. Combat junk mail and find the telemarketing secrets behind "their game."

There are free and paid services to help reduce or eliminate junk mail. Most of them are effective, but the pros are persistent on removing you from junk mail and catalog lists.

It may seem unreasonable to pay a company to remove you from direct marketing lists. After all, it's mail that shouldn't be coming in anyway. Here are a few lists of companies that will stop the junk mail, catalogs, and "freebies" from coming into your mailbox and Blackberry.

OPT OUT OF FROM THE CREDIT REPORTING INDUSTRIES

The Opt Out Prescreen at https://www.optoutprescreen.com is a service that serves for the credit reporting industries: Equifax, Trans Union, and Experian. You can opt out of all offers for freebies, catalogs, and all other junk mail from companies that see you as "credit worthy" or prescreened as a potential buyer according to your demographic profile.

If you are interested only in catalogs from a particular company, and insist on "going green," ask the company if they print the catalog on recycled paper. If not, ask them to remove you from the company's mailing list until they do.

In addition, if you have duplicate catalogs from the same company and still want your favorite catalogs, call them and ask them to remove the extra listing.

STOP THE JUNK MAIL

At www.stopthejunkmail.com are pros at reducing mailbox clutter. The pros charge a $20, but are adamant about getting you removed from mailing lists.

THE DIRECT MARKETING ASSOCIATION

The Direct Marketing Association at (dmaconsumers.org) will delete your name for direct marketers through its Mail Preference Service. The DMA is responsible for high standards for responsible marketing. This organization charges one dollar to remove your name from catalog and other mailing lists. This service can be paid online or through the mail.

Great information. I've heard people say they send the junk mail back to the sender. I've always wanted to do that but forget.
