Cap's is located along the coast in St. Augustine Beach, Florida and is described as new coastal cuisine. Just off A1A past the Vilano Bridge sits the "Castle" which is well known to locals. Castle Ottis which was built to honor Jesus Christ can be seen from A1A and as you make the turn the signs lead the path to the restaurant. Cap's encompasses what Fresh Florida Seafood is meant to taste like. The ambience is best described as "Old Florida" and is very quaint and romantic. The restaurant has beautiful sunsets that overlook the waterways and centuries old winding oak trees provide the shade. The restaurant offers indoor seating however I personally recommend sitting under the overhang near the bar this way you can capture the best of both worlds. The indoor seating known as "The Inside" is for adults only. This area is meant to be a romantic get away and has gorgeous views of the water. The restaurant is extremely family friendly and offers covered dinning areas incase of inclement weather. The sandy beach front area is where most of the children congregate while the parents wait on a table. Speaking of the wait it's a popular spot so prepare to wait however the scenery and the bar make the wait time fly by.
The ambience is only the beginning and sets the pace for a wonderful old Florida experience. On every visit we start our dinner with a classic fresh mint mojito. Then we move on to the peal and eat shrimp which are cooked in Cajun spices and served with a fresh cocktail sauce and drawn butter. Cap's uses fresh local shrimp from Amelia Island Florida just a short drive away. The mojito and the shrimp are a perfect way to kick start the meal however if you are looking for a fried appetizer I recommend the calamari. It is served with a tangy sweet chili sauce that has just the right kick.
