Environmental sustainability is the ability of humans to use natural resources without compromising the future generations. In other words, we should only use what we need and retain enough for our future generations to utilize. We shouldn't treat non-renewable resources, like fossil fuels, as if we have unlimited supplies. They are called non-renewable resources for a reason. We should treat our environment more carefully. We are continually polluting the environment like it can absorb all the toxins in the world. Our population is another problem. We are continuing to grow in numbers. Earth isn't capable to absorb all of our wastes and feed all of us. Earth's resources isn't limitless. It is dwindling in numbers and the fact that we aren't giving back as much as we are taking is a huge problem.

What actions can we take to reduce the threats to environmental sustainability?

There are so many other things that we can do to help our environment like...

Driving Less. If we do this, we will use less gas which means we can start conserving fossil fuels. Like mentioned above, we don't have unlimited supplies of fossil fuels. If we aren't careful, we can lose that resource. Plus this is such a great help for our environment. Less cars in the road means less toxins for our environment. When making plans, try to do multiple errands at once. It will lessen your driving. Some of us might even have the luxury to purchase those hybrid cars.

Recycle recycle recycle! I know almost all of us have heard this before but this is important. The more we recycle, the less we need to take from our resources.

Don't leave the water runnning. We don't have unlimited supplies of water. Taking short showers and don't leave the water running while brushing your teeth. Every little bit helps.

Turn the lights off when not needed. If we aren't using the room, the lights need not be on. And when there's daylight outside, we can just open the windows instead of turning on the lights inside the house.

Convert to canvas shopping bags when doing groceries. This will prevent you to having to get plastic bags or paper bags plus you can use them over and over again.
