Frank Wilson & the Cavaliers in the 1960's, this song was written about a 16-year old girl, Jeanette Clark who was killed in a car accident three days before Christmas while on a date. The driver and another teen in the car were also killed when their car struck a flatbed logging truck in Barnesville, Georgia. You might remember the lyrics, "Where oh where can my baby be? The Lord took her away from me..."
John Denver: Annie's Song
The song was written for John Denver's beloved wife, Annie.
Buddy Holly: Peggy Sue
The song was originally written about Buddy Holly's niece Cindy Lou. The song title was later changed to Peggy Sue, the future wife of Cricket's drummer Jerry Allison.
