Kacy Hardenbrook and Jordan Edsall's Dream Wedding

Kacy Hardenbrook and Jordan Edsall of Garrett, Indiana, were just days away from fulfilling their dream of getting married. Their nuptials were scheduled to take place on August 25, 2007. But just five days earlier, on August 20, 2007, their lives were changed forever.

Kacy had just picked up their four year-old daughter, Hanna, from preschool, and went to her mother, Deb Klink's, house to pick up their baby, Rylea, who was eight months old at the time. It was about 4:30 in the afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the Klinks had had to clean out about four feet of sewage from their basement. By the early afternoon, everything seemed to be okay. But as the girls were sitting in the kitchen, Deb got up to get Hanna a glass of water, a glow appeared around the door leading to the basement, and a strong, fiery blast ensued.

Deb Klink was blown out the back door of the kitchen, but Kacy and her girls were caught in the fireball.

Klink suffered from many second- and third-degree burns, but Kacy and the girls suffered major third-degree burns over most of their bodies. Hanna remains in Shriners' Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Kacy still wears protective gloves and a protective wrap around her neck and upper torso. All three still require months, if not years, of healing, skin grafts, and plastic surgery.

An aunt wrote to Regis and Kelly, telling them the tragic story, asking for some happiness to be given to this couple who has suffered such tremendous hardship. Here is the text of that letter, as she read it on the show:

"Dear Regis and Kelly,

"My name is Kim, and I am writing on behalf of Kacy Hardenbrook and Jordan Edsall. Unfortunately their plans for a beautiful wedding came to a crashing halt when tragedy occurred on August 20, 2007.
