Fashion Shines at 2008 Grammys

If you love any type of music you would have loved music's biggest night last night. Last night was the 50th anniversary of the Grammy awards. There were fashion hits and fashion misses in addition to touching tributes and some surprises. Grammy fashion can either take a rock and roll spin or it can be total glamour. Last night's parade of fashion lived up to that.

Taylor Swift who was nominated for Best New Artist wore a purple Narisso Rodriguez dress and Jimmy Choo shoes. In addition, Rhianna wore a stunning purple and feather dress by Zac Posen. Moreover, Fergie, from the Black Eyed Peas wore a sunny banana yellow dress by Calvin Kline. The men also dressed to impress especially some of the rap artist such as Jay-Z who wore a suit by Tom Ford and Ludacriss wore a suit by Giorgio Armani.

In addition to the fashions, the 2008 Grammys had some great musical moments. There was a salute to the Beatles and their Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart's album. In addition, the Beatles were honored when Love, Cirque Du Soleil tribute to the Beatles won a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack.

The biggest winner of the night was Amy Winehouse. She won five Grammies including Best New Artist, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for her song Rehab. Amy Winehouse didn't perform live at the Grammies; she performed via satellite from England because she couldn't get a visa to come to the United States.

Kayne West won four Grammies for album Graduation and sung a touching tribute to his mother who died last year for apparent complications from plastic surgery. Another touching tribute to tenor Luciano Pavarotti was given by Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli by singing The Prayer. The biggest surprise of the night was when Hebbie Hancock won Album of the Year for River: The Joni Letters. Surprises, prizes, and tributes were the themes of the 2008 Grammys.
