Giving the GOP Another Shot in the D.C. Republican Presidential Primary
The past 7 years under the Bush administration hasn't exactly shown off the Republican party in a good light but I believe that there is still hope with the Republican party. My pick for this years Republican nomination went to Mike Huckabee but I'm not here to convince you one way or the other. Both Mike Huckabee and John McCain are both very respectable candidates that I would love to have take office. I'm here to tell you about my experiences during the rallies as well as voting in the primary.
In the days leading up to the primary itself there have been many events in the area. The rallies have got to be the most fun and interesting political experiences in my opinion. You get to see just how excited the public is about politics. I went to one rally and it was great. The one I went to was hosted at a local gymnasium. It opened up at 10:00 in the morning and was standing in a line with at least 1,000 others waiting. I was ecstatic when they finally opened the doors.
Right when I walked through the doors I was greeted warmly by political workers. Before I could join the crowd of people that were eager to see Huckabee I had to sign in with the campaign workers. It was pretty simple stuff that they asked me. Standard stuff like my name, address, and political affiliation. They also were handing out signs if you wanted to hold one up. I of course wanted one. I waited for about twenty minutes or so before anything interesting happened. The first people to come out were local Huckabee supporters and activists who spoke about how great a candidate he was. They got the crowd pumped up and ready to greet Huckabee before he arrived.
