All-natural baby foods are a bit less expensive, but can contain a certain level of artificial colorants, preservatives and flavorings that do not have to be stated on the label. This makes it difficult to determine a source allergies for children, such as my own son, who have asthma, eczema or other symptoms of allergic reactions to their environment. Conventional baby food is relatively inexpensive when compared to organic or all-natural baby food products. But these products can contain a large number of artificial ingredients, colors and preservatives.
There is another option: You can easily make your own organic baby foods! You will be sure you know the ingredients when you make them yourself. It is very easy to make your own organic baby food. You can purchase a small food grinder for less than $20. A quick resource for one of these food grinders online is at Happy Baby Products, here is their URL: http://www.happybabyproducts.com/kidcofoodmill.html. Simply drop in any organic food at all and grind it fresh for your child.
Additional benefits to making your own organic baby food products include being able to use foods that your baby will eat from your table, rather than have to change to different recipes and combinations of spices. I purchased organic baby food for my oldest son and we had a lot of trouble converting him from the food combinations he was used to with the jar food to the food we cooked. My second son was raised with the food grinder and never had organic baby food products. I had no problems switching him from 'baby food' to foods our family regularly ate.
