Shoutcast became very popular amongst Internet users, with its ability to stream audio from one source to another. Internet radio became a popular in all formats, and users began to stream video via Shoutcast as a way for everyone to enjoy Internet television. International television is also very popular amongst Shoutcast listing, and offers a chance for users to view shows they would otherwise not have access to.

Anyone can stream an audio or video file over their own channels. Because of this, you can find a wide array of video content, ranging from legal to pirates movies and copies of country specific broadcast channels. There are also videos of daily life, kids and their adventures, and subbed television you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere. There are also a number of porn streams; some purposely mis-named to make users click on the link. Users should be aware of this and avoid these streams, depending on your country and location.

Whether a stream is legal or not is up to the user to decide. If the videos streaming are copyrighted, such as Family Guy, Naruto, or theatrical movies, then the content is illegal. In the US, it is illegal to even stream the content, so use at your own discretion and understand the rules of your country before watching.

Accessing Shoutcast television directories via VLC player is very simple to do. To watch the Shoutcast listing, follow these steps:

Step 1: Download the VideoLan VLC multi-purpose video and audio player. It is available at the VideoLan website HERE.
