Blind Faith Vs. True Faith

What is Faith?

Faith is an important aspect in many religions across the world. In the principal sense, "religion" involves faith in a divine power that gives the believers their own practices and beliefs. Some faith believers have the idea that faith "is contrasting to evidence and facts"; thus the term "blind faith". Others think of "true faith" as "believing something because of the facts" (Moyer, 2004). The debate over what is "blind faith" and "true faith" has been argued for centuries, but believers that have experienced the faith found in God, know for certain where their faith falls in the two categories.Blind Faith

Besides being a 60's rock band, featuring Eric Clapton, "blind faith" is often dubbed on Christians because God cannot scientifically be proved to exist. In the wake of more than seventy years of liberal teaching, some believers even begin to question his or her faith because of these speculations. The conclusion is that Christianity is an anti-intellectual daydream that believers use to escape reality. It is often believed to be an unintelligent, illogical belief system that ignores fact and has no relevance for modern man today.

Christianity teaches that God certainly exists, and we must believe this to be so. Some people that have not experienced the power of God in his or her life will not blindly believe such claims. Many require a firmer basis for their beliefs than a blind appeal to power. "In fact, one can go further, and point out that it may well be immoral to have beliefs without a logical basis" (Kaiser, 2001).
