Warm weather is just around the corner and that means it is time for flip flops. I came across "Amy's Flip Flop Shop" where you can find beautfiul handmade flip flops for $20.00 shipped. You can even request special designs. Have Amy design a pair of flip flops that no one else will have this summer. Amy sat down with me to talk about the ins and outs of starting a home business as well as some details about her beautiful handmade flip flops.

1. What made you want to start a home business?

Every time I showed anyone the flip flops I had made they all said that I should sell them, that they all thought they would be a big hit. Finally I thought that it was worth a try.

2. What was your first step in starting your home business?

The first thing I had to do was go and buy plain flip flops and then think up designs and find the right beads. I also had to find the right thread to sew the beads on.

3. Is there anything that you wish you would have done differently since you started your business?

I wish I hadn't of waited so long to make them for sale. I wish I had believed in me a lot more.

4. What has been the hardest part of the business so far?

The hardest part so far was making my website. The first week of working on it,nothing wanted to work and nothing looked the way I wanted it to. I had this picture in my head how I wanted it to look and it just wasn't working. But, finally it got rolling and was simple after that.

5. Is this more of a hobby or are you hoping to make a serious income?

It would be great for it to turn into serious income but right now it is just something that I love to do. I do have plans of looking into who I would need to get in touch with to go a little further then I can on my own and finding the steps needed to copyright my shoes. I really would love to take all of it to a higher level.

6. What type of products do you sell?

I sell hand made flip flops that I design and sew myself.

7. What type of materials are used in making your products?
