A 56-year-old New York Therapist, Kathryn Faughey, was murdered on Tuesday after a patient hacked her to death with a meat cleaver. This vicious murder occurred at her Upper East Side Manhattan office. A physician, who was trying to help Kathryn Faughey against the attacker, was also brutally attacked leaving cuts on his face, according to the newsday.com.

There are many jobs like this one that puts the professionals at a great risk for violence or retaliation against the professional. Such jobs as being a Prosecuting Attorney or judge could make your job more difficult when you know that anyone at any minute could strike back looking for retaliation against the person who put them away and this is what makes this a dangerous job.

Being a friend of a taxi cab driver, I can say that this is also a dangerous job that has also escalated into violence. A friend of mine was driving a taxi cab when he was stabbed twice in the neck and once in the arm after a guy refused to pay him and then proceeded to rob him of his earnings. Taxi cab drivers face the possibility of picking up someone with a plan and could be brutally assaulted or even die from the events during this dangerous job.

Correctional Officers also face violence in the work field. Correctional Officers have a job of securing criminals and making sure that they do not do anything that is out of order but what happens when they are forced to give in or when they refuse and attack breaks out? Being the daughter of a Correctional Officer, I hear about raids in the Correctional Facility in which my dad works or when he comes home telling me about a Correctional Officer who was attacked during a routine search which makes this a dangerous job.

Security Officers jobs are dangerous due to them not being well equipped or trained for an attack. Attacks can occur at any moment and they may not know how to defend themselves. Security Officer Jobs are meant to protect and secure property but sometimes that property becomes the target of a robbery.

Nearly every job that a person has can provide a potential hazard. There are even online jobs like freelancing and such that people can take personally and give it a hack at finding out your personal information. Dangerous jobs are everywhere.

I think with any job nowdays, in our world of violence, one can be put at risk. It is truely sad that society has come to this. Great article and information. I agree with you about those being some of the more dangerous professions.

Wow that is so sad and so scary. Especially when someone is trying to help another person out and they have this happen. What the hell. Maybe the flip side to this is, was she aware at all that this person was dangerous and deadly. That is too bad.

After watching the video on youtube with Scientology advocating violence towards Psychiatrists, I am thinking this murder may have been commited by a Scientologist. http://youtube.com/watch?v=hfu7Sr50N7U

The media that has been surrounding this event has stated that they don't even know who this guy is and he is at large. They really don't know much about what happened but I hope to keep everyone updated on this.

I'm sorry to say I hadn't heard about the crime and I am glad you focused on other high-risk professions. I'd like to know more about the patient that attacked this therapist and if she had any warning signs, etc. This was fascinating to read, especially the info about all the high-risk jobs. Taxi driver would not be my first choice if I had to have a second job.
